Victoria Park Singers - December 2023

Victoria Park Singers

Your Local Community Choir

Victoria Park Singers is a Hackney-based community choir led by the inspirational conductor Charles MacDougall.

Tickets for our Spring concert on Sunday 17th March are now on sale – book now

Summer term 2024 open for bookings now – rehearsals begin 17 April. Book your place for the term, or a taster session to try out first.

We rehearse in Hackney on Wednesdays during term time and sing a vast array of music – from pop to gospel, classical to musical theatre, jazz to folk, normally in three or four part harmony (or more!). Victoria Park Singers is made up of local people who love singing – there are no auditions and everyone is welcome. Enjoy singing? Come and join us!

Victoria Park Singers was founded in 2013 and we perform roughly twice per term. There are a number of social events throughout the year, including weekly drinks after rehearsals, post-concert pub visits and occasional piano-oke!

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed my first session – very much looking forward to the next one! I was made to feel really welcome and it felt wonderful singing again – should have done this ages ago!

Victoria Park Singers has become such a great activity to put the stress of the everyday world behind and lose oneself to the emotional feel-good excitement of singing together with like minded friends

We are very proud to be a very community minded choir – we regularly support local charities such as the Bow Food Bank, Ingeenium & St Joseph’s Hospice, as well larger charities such as Water Aid and Amnesty International. We have raised over £22,000 for charity.

We have performed at venues including Rich Mix (Bethnal Green), Union Chapel (Islington), St John’s Smith Square and the Southbank Centre with special guests such as internationally acclaimed Jazz singers Ian Shaw, The Ganda Boys and songwriter Mara Simpson.

In 2017 members were lucky enough to perform with Gary Barlow and the cast of his musical ‘Girls’ at the Olivier Awards and at the Royal Variety Performance. In 2019 some of our members also sang at The Proms (Prom 66: In the Name of The Earth) at the Royal Albert Hall and the choir performed at The Barbican in early 2020, just before lockdown, with their sister choir, Finsbury Park Singers.
